2 Iowa Officers Wounded, Suspect Killed Sunday

The suspect allegedly fired a handgun at two officers, striking one who was inside his vehicle and another who was on foot. Both officers returned fire, killing the suspect.

Two Waterloo, Iowa, Police officers were shot Sunday morning. The suspect was killed when officers returned fire.

Police had responded to a report of a man with a gun at about 8:22 a.m., Waterloo police said Sunday. Officers located Kelvin Lee Plain Jr., 35, riding a bike nearby, according to a Monday news release from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.

Plain allegedly fled from officers on the bike and then on foot through a park. Officers fired a Taser at Plain, knocking him to the ground, the Des-Moines Register reports.
