Oklahoma Officer Wounded, Suspect Killed During Standoff

Police say the suspect was barricaded in the home and fired shots out toward police, and a couple of officers returned fire.

An Oklahoma City Police officer was shot and wounded in an hours-long standoff this morning at a residence, OKCPD reports. The suspect was reportedly killed by police.

The wounded officer was transported to a local hospital, and had successful surgery, police report.

The incident began around 9:15 a.m. with officers responding to a call about someone reportedly holding a gun to someone's head, according to Capt. Valerie Littlejohn.

Police say the suspect was barricaded in the home and fired shots out toward police, and a couple of officers returned fire, the Oklahoman reports.

The suspect was shot and killed by a police officer.

The suspect’s name has not been released.

Around 11:45 a.m., officers made their way into the home and removed five people from the house, three children and two women, Littlejohn said. None of them were injured.
