On June 11 shortly after 6 p.m. three officers from the Gilbert (Arizona) Police Department responded to a call about an unconscious driver stopped in traffic.
Body camera video from the officers at the scene shows that when they woke the man, he produced a rifle, pointed it at the officers, and the officers opened fire.
The man, identified by law enforcement as 24-year-old Jacob Alan Rose, was killed.
Inside the man’s vehicle, police found the loaded rifle that he pointed at the responding officers, Gilbert PD says.
The officers also reportedly found a loaded handgun in the man’s waistband, two other handguns, another loaded firearm in a backpack, and loaded spare magazines in the passenger area of the vehicle.
In addition to the firearms and magazines, police say the following items were found in the vehicle: 54 grams of cocaine, 19.8 grams of ecstasy, 90 Alprazolam pills, a scale, a bottle of liquor, $1,760 in cash, and an outer plate carrier.
The incident is under investigation.
