Biden Plans to Meet with Slain North Carolina Officers’ Families

The president is expected to meet with the families of the slain law enforcement officers in Charlotte on Thursday.

President Joe Biden will visit Charlotte on Thursday to meet with the families of officers who were killed in an ambush this week in east Charlotte, WSOC TV reports.

Three members of a U.S. Marshals fugitive task force, deputy U.S. Marshal Thomas Weeks, North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections workers Sam Poloche and William “Alden” Elliott, were killed while serving a warrant Monday at an east Charlotte home. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer Joshua Eyer, who responded to aid the task force when it came under fire, was critically wounded before he died at the hospital Monday, Chief Johnny Jennings said.

One suspect— Terry Clark Hughes Jr., 39—was killed at the scene.

CMPD Chief Jennings said in a press conference that police believe he was the only shooter.

The investigation is continuing.
