Active Shooter Neutralized at Wisconsin School

Local media is saying shots were fired in the area, but it is unclear whether the shots were fired by the subject before police arrived or in an exchange of fire with officers, or both.

A subject reportedly carrying a rifle was prevented from entering the Mount Horeb (Wisconsin) Middle School Wednesday and “neutralized” by responding officers, the school district says.

Local media is saying shots were fired in the area, but it is unclear whether the shots were fired by the subject before police arrived or in an exchange of fire with officers, or both.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel says the incident was reported by the school district on Facebook at 11:30 a.m. The school reportedly was locked down shortly after 11.

An update posted around 12:10 p.m. indicated there were no reports of anyone hurt other than the suspect, WMTV 15 reports.

It’s believed law enforcement confronted the suspect on the grounds of a high school across the street from the middle school.

At presstime, very few details on police operations had been released.
